Eyesight, I think you would agree that life without it would be very difficult. It is one the 5 senses and the one you could argue we rely on the most. Of those 5 senses, it probably takes the most beating on a daily basis.

A great way to ensure good vision is to eat meals that have vital vitamins and supplements necessary for their proper function. Vitamins like A, C, and E, coupled with minerals like zinc and copper are great for vision. These minerals and vitamins are also good to keep your eyes away from the risks of severe conditions. It is advisable that you eat oranges, strawberry, salmon, eggs, almonds, mackerel, for vitamins and turkey, oysters, and crab for minerals.

What kind of exercises can I do for my eyesight?

This may sound odd, but if you exercise your eyes on a daily basis, it can help to maintain your vision. You can start with simple exercises like rolling your eyes in a circular motion about ten times and repeat the same counterclockwise. I usually do these right when I wake up and/or right before going to bed at night.

Another exercise is to focus on a pen (placing it six inches away) and pull it backward and forwards. Follow it with your eyes.

Heat also helps to improve vision… Place a warm cloth over your eyes or simply rub your palms together and place them on your eyes for a few seconds.

Give your eyes a break!

Just as your body needs rest, so do your eyes. A little shut-eye can help your eyes repair and recover from strenuous activity. Not enough sleep can weaken vision and cause dryness from overexposure. If your eyes feel dry or weak, take 10 min to let them rejuvenate by simply shutting them, you don’t need to fall into complete sleep, literally just keep your eyes closed for a period of time.

Glasses aren’t really that bad…

Worst case scenario, you need to begin wearing glasses. I’m sure you may be thinking, my vision is fine if I need to focus a little more I just squint. Before I began wearing glasses I was actually able to see fairly well, but to see perfectly I had to squint which led to headaches. Leaving your eyes in constant strain will actually make your vision worse, your eyes are working overtime. Wearing eyeglasses can help maintain and sometimes even improve your (natural) vision. It’s been noted that people with minor numbers get prescriptions from specialists to wear eyeglasses, and within 3-6 months, their eyesight goes back to normal.
