Q – I’ve been reading your articles for about a year now but I haven’t seen anything about Cholesterol?  My doctor told me I have high cholesterol and I need to lower it before I have health issues, I don’t want to take his medication, I like natural things.  Do you have any suggestions that can help me?

A – Hi Genie,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we definitely should be publishing information about cholesterol, while it’s necessary in our body, high levels can become a problem.

I’m sure your doctor warned you that high cholesterol can cause dangerous blood clots and inflammation that can cause heart attacks and strokes.  High cholesterol is no joke.

In addition to what I’m going to suggest to you, take a look at this article recently published about Heart Disease, this will also help you with your cholesterol levels.

The same things that cause various heart diseases can cause high cholesterol such as being overweight, lack of exercise, poor diet, alcohol consumption, stress, smoking, etc.  Lifestyle is a key component to most health issues, so doing everything you can today will prevent health issues in the future.

The main thing I would suggest is watching what you eat, limit dairy, red meat, fast food and processed meats, these are the largest contributors to high cholesterol.

If you could get out of the house and simply walk for 30 minutes a day, that would also help.  Any form of physical activity will greatly reduce your risk of high cholesterol, especially combined with a healthy diet.

There are also seasonings and spices such as Cayenne Pepper and Garlic that have been shown to lower high cholesterol as well.

Another Ayurvedic medicine known to lower cholesterol is Gugulipid, it’s native to India and has been recommended for high cholesterol.

High cholesterol is a scary thing Genie, definitely take it seriously.

I hope one or two of my suggestions will be able to help you Genie, let me know if you have any other questions.
