Quinoa is a protein-packed alternative to oatmeal.

This simple breakfast cereal will keep you satisfied for hours while also delivering a punch of cinnamon benefits and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. quinoa
  • 1/3 c. unsweetened apple juice
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 1 small Granny Smith apple, cored, peeled, and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar (optional)

 Directions:

  1. Put the quinoa, apple juice, and water in a pan. Bring to a boil.
  2. Add the Ceylon cinnamon and stir. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped apple, stir to combine, and allow to simmer for another 10 minutes, or until all the liquid is absorbed and the quinoa and apple are tender.
  4. Serve with an additional sprinkle of cinnamon.
