The dreaded wart. They cover the face of witches. People are afraid to touch toads because they think they’ll give them warts. I once chased my brothers around the house with a toad because they were so scared of it. But that’s a myth…
You get warts because of a virus. Some people are more susceptible to it than others. They don’t really bother you – except for their appearance. After a few years, warts will naturally die off. So you can wait them out, or you can actively attempt to kill them.
What you shouldn’t go out and do is get a kit from the store when there are so many simple options to get rid of them. Plus, I’ve had terrible experiences with over-the-counter solutions. Most of them use salicylic acid. It’s deadly to warts, but it’s also deadly to your skin.
Try these options instead.
- Duct Tape
This is a popular remedy because it’s so easy. Just take a piece of duct tape and put it over the wart. Replace daily until the wart vanishes. Personally though, I’m not a fan of this one – even if there are colorful variances of duct tape you can put all over your body.
- Vitamin C Tablets
Crush up a vitamin C tablet and add just enough water to make a paste. Put it on the wart and then cover with a bandaid. Repeat daily.
- Pineapple Juice
Pineapple juice contains enzymes that break down proteins. It’s why you shouldn’t put pineapple and meat together too long before you serve someone. Warts put a protein shield around themselves so that your immune system doesn’t recognize them as an enemy.
Soak your wart in pineapple juice. Repeat daily.
If your wart isn’t in a convenient place for soaking it, soak a cotton ball in pineapple juice and put in on your wart. Place a bandaid over it.
- Garlic & Other Anti-Viral Remedies
Rub garlic on it. If you’re not a fan of smelling like you’re trying to repel vampires, try propolis. Or apple cider vinegar. Or coconut oil. People are willing to try just about everything and I’ve seen just about everything work for getting rid of warts – as long as it has anti-viral properties, it’ll probably work. It just may take a little longer than this next recipe.
- Wart Killing Recipe
½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 drop oregano essential oil
2 drops frankincense essential oil
½ teaspoon coconut oil
Directions
- Combine everything except the coconut oil in a small dish.
- Add the coconut oil. Make sure everything is blended evenly.
- Cleanse the area surrounding the wart (and the wart too)
- Dip a cotton ball in the mixture. Gentle squeeze out the excess.
- Put the cotton ball on the wart and put a bandaid over it.
- Replace twice a day.
The key with any of these remedies is to do them as often as possible. If you stop, the wart will try to grow back.
