A superfood is defined as a nutrient-rich food considered to be beneficial for health and well-being.  While there are no set criteria for superfoods, they typically contain high levels of much-needed vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.  These “superfoods” while nutrient-dense, are also low in calories for weight management.

Green superfoods have some of the highest concentrates of easily digestible nutrients and fat-burning compounds.  They also help aid your digestive system and effectively protect you against disease and illness.

Seaweed isn’t as widely known but this superfood may have the most benefits.  Seaweed can contain up to 10 times more calcium than milk and 8 times more than beef.  Other minerals in seaweed include magnesium, iron, potassium, iodine, and zinc.  Because the chemical composition of seaweed is so close to human blood plasma, it can help regulate and purify our blood system.  Seaweed is also packed with omega-3 fatty acids which help prevent heart attacks and strokes.

Herb superfoods are essential body balancers, they have been used for centuries in natural healing methods.  Herbs have a host of benefits including anti-inflammatories, regulate insulin and blood sugar, aid cognitive function, increase metabolism, boost the immune system and protect your heart.

In conclusion, doing everything you can TODAY, to prevent issues TOMORROW is the best medicine.  Even if you feel you are completely healthy now, I suggest including superfoods in your diet so you do not have issues later.
